Maine Opiate Addiction

My sons father suffers from a drug habit and I don't want my son around him until he gets help through an addiction recovery center center. I fear that he will abuse my child or even worse while he is high. A drug habit I've heard makes people act violent, is this true? How can I make sure my ex gets help through an addiction recovery center center and be sure he is actually cured from this horrible fate he has found himself in?

My life before drug and alcohol problems was a happy one and when I found myself abusing drugs I didn't know where to turn. What would my family think of me? I was scared to tell them I had a problem and that I needed heroin treatment.

Is addiction harder for an addict to overcome than other kinds of drugs? Is addiction treatment services available for all types of drug addiction in every treatment center or are there different centers for each type of abuse?

When is drug & alcohol treatment needed? Does an addict have to get drug & alcohol treatment in order be free of substance abuse or can it be done on ones own? My father has a substance abuse and I really want to find him a good drug & alcohol treatment center to attend. I don't think he can break loose from this on his own even though he says he can. How can I make sure he gets the help he needs?

When I found drug rehabilitation six years ago for my drug and alcohol addiction I was in total denial that I even had a problem. Everyone around me knew I had a problem though and with the help of my family I was able to find drug rehabilitation. My drug and alcohol addiction consumed me completely and there was nothing more important in my life than chasing the high I needed just to feel like a normal human being. Today, I'm happier than ever and so happy that I had friends and family who cared enough about me to make me get help.
